Synopsis
What if your locker whispered your name?
I came to Ravenshade Academy hoping to disappear. But frost spirals follow me, mirrors whisper secrets, and the Rift has already claimed me.
Now two very different boys refuse to let me go:
Luke—my childhood best friend, warm as sunlight, the only safe thing in this cursed place.
Ashriel—the forbidden guardian bound to me by prophecy, dangerous as midnight.
One promises safety. The other tempts me with shadows.
And the Rift? It whispers my name, demanding I choose.
But what if choosing between them opens the Rift?

Thank you so much for checking in. That really means a lot.
I’ve been quietly working on revising a few parts of the story because I want it to feel just right before I continue.
I know it’s taking a bit, and your message honestly gave me a boost to keep going.
New updates are coming soon. Thank you for being here.

Hi readers,
Big update! I decided to take down the old draft (Ch. 4–17) so I can rewrite this story the way it was always meant to be. Today, I’m starting fresh and from here on… I’ll be updating daily!
One special thing I didn’t want to lose was a reader’s support. Avaiaeilon left me two beautiful comments here — one is still visible, the other was lost when I cleared the draft. But I remember both, and I want you to know how much that encouragement means to me.
So while this chapter is acting as a placeholder for now, it also marks a new beginning. The Rift is whispering again, and Elle’s story will unfold every single day. Thank you for staying with me.

This story ripped me apart in the best way. Every chapter im screaming because Luke loves Elle so softly and completely, ane then Ashriel shows up with that dangerous, soul- shaking devotion and im like, how am i suppose to choose?
Luke’s love is feels like coming home but Ashriel’s love feels like destiny..
My heart is not okay and im begging for more..
Raine_Whitlock
Thank you. Hearing that my story hit you like that honestly means everything.
I’m so glad Luke and Ashriel are wrecking you (in the best possible way), because that push-and-pull is the heartbeat of this whole story. And trust me… if you think your heart isn’t okay now, you definitely need to stick around.
Stay with me, the storm hasn’t even hit yet.

Absolutely amazing and addictive dark romance fantasy at an Academy setting!
First, I absolutely love the characters. Even though I was first rooting for Luke, after some more chapters, now currently at chapter 22, I feel conflicted just like Elle.
SO MAYBE SPOILERS AHEAD!
I’m thorn between the two, like Luke is still in my opinion the best, but he is getting slightly more controlling or overprotective. His character is so well layered.
I totally love Elle as well, she is very much layered and has so many anxious fear that I worry for her just like Luke. And she needs protection. I get that she leans towards Ashriel because he has proven she could rely on him. This make me feel like I understand why Elle feels a certain way for him. I’m not sure if it should be love though, but it might be human nature to feel safer or more attracted to a person who keeps saving Elle or being there when Elle needs it the most.
The story is so well written and well paced, it made me read and listen through everything with joy and anticipation. The story feels so eerie and it really makes you feel creeped out or anxious as well at certain moments. It really reflects well on the writing.
I absolutely love this story and even though I haven’t caught up yet to all chapters, I can definitely recommend this to others who love a dark romance fantasy that almost feels like light horror as well.

Thank you so much!! this means more than you know. I love that you’re feeling the same conflict Elle does. Luke’s warmth and overprotectiveness, Ashriel showing up when she needs him, and none of it is simple, and you’re catching exactly what I hoped readers would. Elle’s fears and instincts pull her in opposite directions, and both boys hit different parts of her heart. That tension is the whole journey.
I’m really glad the eerie, anxious vibe is landing for you too.Thank you for reading, and for caring this much about them.

Oh my god!! Chapter 71 broke me for Luke.
I went in thinking, Okay, maybe he’ll get one good moment with her, but watching him try so hard, while everything around him kept slipping out of his hands, hurt in a way I wasn’t ready for. He’s so warm and human, and you can feel how desperately he loves her… and none of it is enough. Not because he’s unworthy, but because he’s outmatched by forces he can’t even understand.
When Ashriel said, “She wasn’t meant to dance with you,” my heart cracked. But what destroyed me was Luke’s response. He doesn’t explode. He doesn’t fight. He just breaks. Quietly. In that awful, human way where you know someone’s trying hard not to fall apart in public. It’s the softest heartbreak… and somehow the sharpest.
This chapter made me love him more. And it made the triangle feel so real but in a tragic way. I’m honestly still grieving for him.

Thank you. I felt the same way writing this chapter. Luke’s quiet heartbreak gutted me. He’s trying so hard, and you’re right… he isn’t losing because he’s unworthy. He’s losing because he’s human in a situation that isn’t. That moment when he doesn’t fight back, he just breaks? That’s the part that hit me the hardest too.I’m really grateful you connected with him this deeply. And don’t worry, his story isn’t over.
