Terms and Conditions

By using this website and engaging in any form of contribution, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. This document serves as a legally binding agreement between you and the site, outlining your responsibilities, payment structures, and expectations. Please read carefully and fully understand the contents.

Expectations:

Authors:

  1. Signed Authors must post at least once every two weeks
  2. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Submissions must be the Author’s own work; translations of existing works, whether licensed or unlicensed, will not be accepted.

Payment Calculations:

Payments:

  1. Payments will be calculated the following month and completed between the 10th to 15th
  2. Patreon and Ko-fi belong to solely the author
  3. Payment structure is based on an ad share model (50-70%) and content purchases (70-80%)
  4. Payouts can be requested when you’ve accrued a minimum of $20
  5. Content purchases will be calculated by your tier (Gold/Star/Diamond) percentage of net revenue received from sales

Definitions:

  • Coin: The website currency used to unlock access to content. Readers may earn Coins through both free methods and paid methods.
  • Paid Methods: Coins that are purchased through Stripe or other gateways and generates a monetary profit for the site.
  • Net Revenue: The total income generated by Coins gained through paid methods, after deducting any applicable costs, fees, taxes, refunds, and chargebacks associated with transactions.
  • Sales: Engagement purchases using free currency will not count towards sales or net revenue. Neither NovelReads nor the Author will earn through free unlocks.

Tier Rankings:

1: Diamond (100,000+ Views/Month):

  • Ad Revenue: 70% of ad revenue Coins: 80% of net amount

2: Star (30,000-100,000 Views/Month):

  • Ad Revenue: 60% of ad revenue Coins: 75% of net amount

3: Gold (0-30,000 Views/Month):

  • Ad Revenue: 50% of ad revenue Coins: 70% of net amount

Once you reach the minimum views for the next tier, you will be ranked up in the month you reach it in. Tier rankings will be held for one month, and dropped by one rank if it has been missed during the held month.

If a Gold rank author remains inactive for more than one month, they will lose access to the ranking benefits.

Author and Site Rights:

As the platform and host, NovelReads retains the right to remove any novels that causes controversy or is requested of us. The Site has the right to make minor modifications to an Author’s post or content, such as but not limited to: grammatical errors, misspelling, etc. These edits will not exceed 10% of the post, and plot content will not be adjusted by the site so long as it does not cause controversy.

The Site may allow you to submit content, through forms such as comments, original novels, or other mediums (“User Submissions”). By submitting User Submissions to the Website, you grant NovelReads a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display the User Submissions in connection with the Website. You warrant that you have all necessary rights to grant this license and that your User Submissions comply with these Terms.

You agree not to submit any User Submissions that:

  • Infringe upon any third party’s intellectual property rights.
  • Are unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Contain viruses, malware, Trojan horses, worms, or any other harmful code.
  • NovelReads reserves the right to remove any User Submissions and terminate your access to the Website for violating these Terms.

Authors retain full rights to their work and may publish their work on any site(s) as well as remove their novel at any time, so long as the Author is the rightful owner of the work. The author’s work will not be infringed upon, and the Site will not direct the Author’s story direction.

In the event that an Author violates platform guidelines or breaches these Terms, NovelReads reserves the right to withhold or deny outstanding payments associated with their account.

These Terms & Conditions may be updated or modified by NovelReads at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Site constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
